4th of July Candy for Dogs Recipe

Ingredients

Red Layer:
1 cup frozen strawberries (NOT raspberries – they can be toxic for dogs in large quantities), thawed
1 tbsp Knox powdered gelatin (NOT jello)
3 tbsp water

White Layer:
¼ cup plain 2% unsweetened Greek yogurt
¼ cup water
1 tbsp Knox powdered gelatin (NOT jello)
3 tbsp water

Blue/Purple Layer:
1 cup frozen blackberries, thawed
1 tbsp Knox powdered gelatin (NOT jello)
3 tbsp water

Directions

For both berry (red and blue) layers:
1. Place the berries in a food processor and pulse until completely liquid. Press them through a mesh sieve or a cheesecloth, separating the juice from the pulp and seeds. Discard the pulp, or use with yogurt for YOUR breakfast! 😊
2. Pour the berry juice into a bowl and set aside. Combine the gelatin and water in a small bowl and microwave for 15-30 seconds, or until the gelatin has melted.
3. Add the gelatin mixture to the juice and mix well.

For the white layer:
1. Combine the yogurt and ¼ cup water in a bowl. Set aside.
2. Combine the gelatin and water in a small bowl and microwave for 15-30 seconds, or until the gelatin has melted.
3. Add this to the yogurt mixture and mix to combine.

To assemble:
1. Using a silicone mold of your choice, pour the blue layer 1/3 of the way into each cube/shape. Place this in the fridge until set, about 20 minutes.
2. Repeat with the white layer, until there is a 1/3 of space remaining in each shape. Chill for 20 minutes.
3. Repeat with the red layer, then leave the mold in the fridge for 4 hours or up to overnight.
4. To unmold, sit the mold in a tray of boiling water for a couple seconds to soften the edges, then turn out onto a plate. Enjoy! These should be stored in a plastic storage container in the fridge for up to one week.
