Kibble

Kibble is dry, shelf-stable dog food, the most common format in the US by volume. Most kibble is made by extrusion, with a smaller portion made by baking (lower temperature, slower process). Kibble's advantages are convenience, long shelf life, low per-day cost, and dental abrasion. The disadvantages are lower moisture (which matters for hydration in dogs that do not drink enough), and the heat processing required to make it. Modern premium kibble from feeding-trial-validated brands delivers complete and balanced nutrition that meets every clinical standard for healthy dogs.
