Human-Grade

Human-grade is a regulated AAFCO term, not just marketing language. To use it legally, every ingredient must be edible for humans AND the entire manufacturing process from sourcing through packaging must meet FDA human food safety standards. This is a much higher bar than 'made with human-grade ingredients' (which only means the ingredients started human-grade but the facility may not be). True human-grade dog food brands like The Farmer's Dog, JustFoodForDogs, and Spot & Tango are uncommon and expensive. The price premium reflects the genuine sourcing and facility requirements, not just marketing.
